Soft washing is a method rather than a service. It means applying a cleaning solution at garden hose pressure, letting it work, and rinsing. Anything that cannot take mechanical force gets cleaned this way: painted surfaces, siding, stucco, roofs, screens, wraps, awnings and older wood.
The reason it works is that most exterior staining is organic. Algae, mildew and lichen are living growth, and growth responds to chemistry rather than force. A treated surface keeps getting cleaner for a day or two after the crew leaves, which is why a soft wash often looks better on the second day than at the moment of the rinse.

The honest limitation is that soft washing removes organic growth and general grime, not everything.
